Mishkan Torah will be hosting this year's Reconstructionist community Tikkun Leil Shavuot nighttime study sessions to bring in Shavuot on May 21. On this holiday when we celebrate receiving the Torah, it is traditional to study at night in anticipation of revelation at dawn. (We used to stay up all night studying, noshing, trivia-ing, etc. but no longer.) We will again join with Oseh Shalom, Columbia Jewish Congregation, Kol HaLev, and perhaps Adat Shalom for the program.
We will open the evening with ma'ariv (the evening service) from 7:30 to about 8, then have study sessions from then until around 11. The sessions in the sanctuary will be Zoomed, but the ones meeting in the classrooms upstairs and downstairs in the school building will not. The Zoom link will be sent out at a later date.
We are always looking for volunteers to lead study sessions. Anyone who has a study session that they would like to teach should contact Rabbi Saul.
Bringing a dairy dessert or other snack is traditional for the event.
If you intend to attend Tikkun Leil Shavuot, please register on the sign up sheet below.
