Young Leadership

Karen Knee is this year's recipient of the Young Leadership Award. She is the tenth recipient of the award and so richly deserves our collective “Thank You”.

Karen has been a very creative leader in rejuvenating the Membership Committee. This is her fourth year as Co-chair of that Committee! Karen is more than just Mishkan Torah’s Membership Chair – she is also the mother (to Maggie) and an Environmental Science professor at American University in Washington, DC

The Young Leadership event has been postponed several times to honor Karen’s request for an in-person gathering. We are now at last at a point where we can safely comply with that request. On April 24, 2022 (less than 24 hours after Passover has ended), we will have a pizza party at Schrom Hills Park in Greenbelt. Entertainment and the award presentation can be viewed on Zoom, but many may want to stop in just to say hello. The event will start at 12:30 p.m. with pizza. It is an opportunity to say “Mazel Tov” to Karen while having a family fun day at the park; enjoying some music; and “shmoozing” with your Mishkan Torah family.

It is important that attendees RSVP for the in-person event so we know how much pizza to buy. If you wish to make a donation in Karen's honor, you may also do so on the form. (You can pay online by clicking on the appropriate button at the bottom of the page.)
