Talk on Pregnancy Discrimination
David Norken on October 9, 2015 will give a talk about pregnancy discrimination during the Friday night service. David, a long-time member of the social action committee, is an Administrative Law Judge with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (“EEOC”), the federal agency that has pregnancy discrimination within its purview. He will talk about the recent Supreme Court case on the subject, the recent EEOC Guidance and the impact of Americans with Disabilities Act Amendments Act (ADAAA). Even though the Pregnancy Discrimination Act has been law since the 1970’s, pregnancy discrimination is still invidious and widespread, and employers “still don’t get it.” David’s talks are always thoughtful and interesting
