Shabbat Shira and Birthday/Anniversary Shabbat
Join us on January 26 at 9:30 for a Shabbat service of music, meditation and renewal lead by Yael Fischman and Saul Oresky. Doors open at 9:30 am for silent meditation and stretching (bring a yoga mat if desired). At 10 am we'll begin with a niggun, a wordless melody, which will unite us as a prayer community. We'll continue with a service which weaves some of the traditional Hebrew prayers with a couple of new melodies as well as some of the old favorites. There will be a Torah service, in which we'll read the account of how the Children of Israel crossed the Red Sea. We'll study a little about this Biblical event and its resonance in our lives. Joyful dancing to the tune of composer Debbie Friedman's "Miriam's Song" accompanied by guitar and piano will follow. Please bring guitars, tambourines, drum, etc. and lend your musicality to our celebration! If you have a birthday or anniversary in January come and celebrate during services and over kiddush.
