Thirty-five members and friends from the Mishkan Torah Synagogue in Greenbelt spent a wet and muddy Sunday afternoon August 3rd picking potatoes and squash to feed the homeless and hungry in the Metropolitan DC area. "It was fun!" declared one soggy participant. The activity of picking the produce is called "gleaning" which means to gather produce left behind by reapers. The gleaning project is sponsored by the Henry Wallace Agricultural Research Center in Beltsville, MD.
