Cafe Tzedakah to Commemorate Kristalnacht Anniversary                                                       
On Saturday night, November 9, 2013 at seven in the evening, the Social Action Committee of Mishkan Torah Synagogue will have a special Café Tzedakah called A Night to Remember to mark the 75th anniversary of Kristalnacht ,one of the twentieth century’s most tragic occasions. Also known as the Night of the Broken Glass, Kristalnacht was a series of coordinated attacks against Jews and Jewish property in Nazi Germany and Austria on November 9 and 10, 1938. Over 7,000 Jewish businesses an d267 synagogues were destroyed . Much worse, 91 Jews were killed and approximately 30,000 were rounded up and taken to concentration camps. Kristalnacht is generally regarded as the beginning of the Holocaust.

The program at the Café will include speakers and performances by the Connections Chorus and Mishkan Torah Education Director and musician Bret Goldstein. The Connections Chorus is comprised of persons both with and without disabilities. The program is intended to benefit Resource Connections.  This Prince George‘s County organization is devoted to helping persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities direct their own lives. The event is open to the general community. Thereis no admission charge, but attendees are asked to bring non-perishable food items.
